True Blood Season 5 Episode 4 This week's True Blood was literally gushing with excitement. Suspense pumped through every vessel of Bon Temps. The episode was bleeding tension. I’m out of puns for this, who’s got a better one? Anyhow, the aptly titled “Whatever I Am, You Made Me,” mostly centered around Vamp-Tara dealing with her newfound “vampiracy”… we’ll get to that later. First Jason Obviously we can’t start at the central plot point. Rather, let’s cover the B-plot first. Jason seems to be having some sort of epiphany, and realizes he’s a “sexaholic,” wasting away his youth trying to fill an emotional void in his life with copious quantities of coitus. In search of answers, he seeks out his professor of copulation, literally a teach from school who first de-flowered him.
True Blood Season 5 Episode 4 Lacking answers, Jason attempts to explain his predicament to Jessica, who makes an effort to be a friendly ear rather then friend-with-benefit. Eric and Bill Now in the custody of Roman (detective Elliott Stabler in case you’ve lost track), protector of the “Vampire Authority,” Eric and Bill are forced to answer for their lapse in judgment when they buried Russell Edgington some time ago. Once equipped with remotely activated stakes against their respective hearts, “Beric” is now forced to do the bidding of the authority. The intricacies and complexities of the authority are yet to be fully revealed, but suffice to say they are going to make up for Russell Edgington’s inevitable return.
True Blood Season 5 Episode 4 More important than the combined goals of Beric, we begin to understand some more depth about the authority. It is explained, there are factions of vampires who believe humans are to be kept like pets to feed on, while the authority promotes cohabitation amongst humans and blood-suckers. More on Beric’s relationship in Pam’s backstory.
This was a very Pam-heavy episode. We flashed back to the early 1900s when she was turned. Makes sense that someone with an eternity to live, would be an entrepreneur in the oldest profession. She was a “madame of the night,” until meeting Eric Northman. A few excuses to get Alexander Skarsgard shirtless later, he turns her into a vamp.
We simultaneously learn Eric and Bill first met at Pam’s brothel, when Bill was first turned. This also sheds a little light on the maker-makee relationship, which leads Pam to feeling guilty for her lack of guidance towards newly vamped Tara.
Now to Tara. She ran around like a Tasmanian Devil for a while, before seeking out Sam Merlotte. Always the good guy, Sam offers her a keg or two of True Blood, and sticks her in the walk-in at the restaurant for the day.
In the closing moments of the ep, Tara plops herself down in a tanning bed, presumably to roast herself, but at the last second, Pam perks up and foreshadows doing the proverbial “right thing” in the next episode.Weeds Season 8 Episode 1
